my older 40 GB iPod shows a folder with an exclamation point, and the computer won’t read it anymore, this all happened right after I downloaded the updated software for iTunes, i’d been running the old software without ever updating it … 4.something, maybe? I don’t remember for sure. Any ideas about how to get my iPod to work again? I can run it in DATA mode, but the computer still won’t read it and I can’t get it to turn on.

Hi there. I have an Ipod colour 30GB. I accidently got it a bit wet and the click wheel buttons stopped working. I pulled it apart and dried everything out and all connections seemed good. Still communicates fine with computer, and can be turned on by flicking the hold swith on and off. But still no button response. Any advise appreciated.
frankie, well got news for you….. this is my same exact problem. the only way to fix your ipod without risking losing all your files and music… is to use a recovery software for yor ipod…. however….i’m still looking for one without charge or a crack or something similar since all i’ve got are mora than $60 to restore the data.
