« Free SciFi/Fantasy Audiobook Podcast Announced | Main | PodcastGuests.com to Connect Podcasters with Guests »Podscope Beta Searches Podcast Audio ContentApril 18, 2005Podscope, a new podcast search engine that indexes the audio content of podcasts, is now in beta. The site uses proprietary technology crawl the web, searching for podcasts, and then creates an index of the podcast content. Users can search on a term, choose the most relevant podcast and click to play or download.
Podscope describes its site as "the first search engine that actually allows you to search for spoken words within any audio or video file." While the site has started by indexing podcasts, it plans to add other types of multimedia in the future. According to Dave Seltzer, Podscope Systems Architect, "The beta is to evaluate the system under load to determine areas needing improvement. Believe me when I say, we are very interested in feedback. So if you’re a listener or a podcaster, please, tell us what you like and what you think should be changed." CommentsI'm timing out on this link, can't see it! Posted by: marshallkirkpatrick at April 19, 2005 01:17 AM Since the site's in beta, it may be that availability may be spotty as they make changes.... If you get a chance, though, check it out. It's a very interesting idea. Results are not very good at this point, because of the number of sites indexed. Also, it looks like they will need to augment their audio search technology with indexing of feed information. Posted by: jlewin Post a comment |
