UK Podcasters Testing PodShare Concept

May 30, 2005

UK blogger Adrian Pegg is promoting the idea of applying the shareware model to the world of podcasting.

According to Pegg, the shareware model may be a good approach for podcasters that can't justify subscription fees.

As Pegg describes it, "Everybody can subscribe to the feed for free (as now) and listen to your show. But you make it clear on your website that people are welcome to listen to 5 shows (or whatever you think is appropriate), but if they like the show and wish to continue listening the shareware price is £10 for a year / month or whatever, and leave it to work on trust."

Several podcasters have announced their intentions to try the PodShare approach. Richard Vobes, host of the Richard Vobes Radio Show, and Phil Coyne, of Bitjobs for the Masses, are both testing the PodSharing waters.
