No Time to Read Hamlet? Put a Study Guide on Your iPod!

October 27, 2005

Hamlet_iPod.jpgIt used to be that students that couldn't make it through Hamlet had to at least read the Cliffs Notes study guide. Now, students can listen to study guides on classic English literature on their iPods.

iPREPpress, a content provider for the iPod, and SparkNotes, a division of Barnes & Noble, have introduced 11 study guides for classic American and British literature for download on the iPod. The iPod study guides feature the same content as the best-selling SparkNotes study guides including context, plot overview, summary and analysis, theme, motives, key facts and quizzes, and audio hyperlinks to context, audio plot overview and audio analysis of major characters.

"The iPod is a powerful tool that can make selected educational material fun and convenient to access," said Kurt Goszyk, founder of iPREPpress. "Bringing educational content to the iPod is a natural step in the evolution of iPod content."

Available Titles:

  • The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
  • The Catcher in the Rye
  • The Great Gatsby
  • Hamlet
  • To Kill a Mockingbird
  • Lord of the Flies
  • The Odyssey
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Romeo & Juliet
  • The Scarlet Letter
  • A Tale of Two Cities

"We're excited about this collaboration," said Daniel Weiss, publisher and managing director of SparkNotes. "By providing our popular study guides, formatted for the iPod by iPREPpress, we hope to provide another way for students to get the most out of their education and in a fun way."

The guides sell for US $4.95 and are available at the iPREPpress site.
