 Podcasters around the world have produced a variety of takes on Charles Dickens' holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, all of which are available for free download.
At least four different versions of the well-known story of Ebenezer Scrooge are available in podcast form, ranging from a humorous version that puts Scrooge in the present day to a more traditional reading from Penguin and a group retelling by a group of podcasters from around the globe.
Podcast Versions of A Christmas Carol
- The Penguin Podcast is featuring a multi-part retelling of the complete tale. This version is read by actor Geoffrey Palmer, known to many from the British comedy series, The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, and as Adm. Roebuck in Tomorrow Never Dies.
- The Friends in Technology are presenting A Geek Christmas Carol, an updated version of the tale. Ed Scrooge is planning to outsource and offshore every job in his high-tech company. Thankfully, some helpful tech "spirits" intervene and show him that there is more to life, work and Christmas than cutting costs and firing staff.
- Podcasters from around the globe have collaborated to produce A Podcast Christmas Carol. Podcaster Chris Doelle produced and directed this community-driven podcast, joined by Podcast Pickle's Gary Leland, Adam Curry, Leo Laporte, Soccergirl and dozens more.
- A version of the tale adapted for children is available as part of the Storynory podcast.
