The study interviewed 2000 persons 12-24 years of age and was done on a national platform. The project was part of a University of Southern California Media Lab analysis entitled How to Make Music Radio Appealing to the Next Generation. The study makes several recommendations for radio to reconnect with young listeners, including:

Between my vast collection of music on my iPod and Podcasts, I have lost the attention span to commit to radio. I listen to my metal and get ready for my next wedding with my player only. People are not in control of the public air. When you create your own songlist and podcast, your set to go.
