There's no high-class swag, no keynotes by show sponsors and no vendors hawking their latest goods. Instead, the event promises sessions on topics of interest to podcasters, organized and run by the attendees. Many hardcore PodcasterCon attendees gathered Friday night at Italian Pizzeria III in Chapel Hill. The unofficial event offered people a chance to get to know each other and talk podcasting. Heaping plates of appetizers, giant pizzas and pitchers of pop and beer helped keep the conversations going until late in the evening.

Sean Reiser of the InterocitorCast, gazing contentedly at the post- pizza carnage.
A surprisingly calm Brian Russell, creator, organizer and facilitator of PodcasterCon. When he is not getting ready to host hundreds of podcasters, Brian is a tech wonder for the journalism program at the University of North Carolina, and an advocate for citizen journalism at AudioActivism.org.
Here, Russell is joined by OrangePolitics.org founder and editor, Ruby Sinreich.
Greg Galant with Chris Doelle, aka C-Dogg. Chris drove all the way from Houston, where he produces four podcasts: Riding With the Window Down, PMC Top Ten, Lone Star Gridiron, and This Week In Houston.
Here's Angelo with Elisabeth Lewin of Podcasting News. Angelo runs Italian Pizzeria III on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. If you're in Chappel Hill and you're hungry, Angelo will take care of you. He was a very gracious host, and a very good cook. We had lots of pizza, breadsticks, onion rings, and cold beverages. My only regret was that I did not get to try their very delicious-looking cheesesteaks. Angelo informs me that they go through 140 lbs of meat every week. CommentsWoo hoo! It was awesome! Both the pre-dinner and the con itself! Hooray podcasting community! Posted by: Christiana Ellis at January 8, 2006 01:46 PM it was great meeting you! this whole weekend rocked!
