Songbird, an open-source alternative to iTunes, made its official debut today.
The popularity of the download, though, has seriously strained the Songbird site, causing availability problems.
"Thanks for the amazing response," notes the site, "but all this slashdotting has brought the server to its knees. Rest assured that we're working on it."
The application, in preview mode, has been described as an "iTunes killer", and some expect it to challenge iTunes like Firefox has challenged Internet Explorer.
