Jack Black has introduced a video podcast tied in with his upcoming film Nacho Libre. In the movie, Black stars as Ignacio (friends call him Nacho), a Mexican priest who moonlights as a lucha libre wrestler to raise money for his orphanage.
Several other podcasts have been used to test how podcasting can be used to promote movies, including the critically panned Paris Hilton Podcast for House of Wax, and the Superman Video Podcast of director Bryan Singer.
Nacho Libre, directed by Jared “Napoleon Dynamite” Hess, casts Black as a Mexican wrestler trying to raise money to save an orphanage.
“Whenever I was in my trailer on the set of ‘Nacho Libre,’ I would fire up my videocamera, plop my ass down in a Barcalounger, and record my thoughts and feelings on how the movie was going,” Black said. ” So I think it’s a kick-ass document, keeping all my peeps up to date on what’s going on.”
