Podcast Advertising Discussion to be Featured at San Francisco Conference

April 18, 2006

Podcasting advertising promises to be a hot topic at the upcoming ad:tech San Francisco, being held Wednesday, April 26 through Friday, April 28, 2006 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

A panel discussion, moderated by iPressroom founder and chairman Eric Schwartzman, who hosts the podcast “On the Record…Online,” will look at issues facing advertisers and podcasters looking for podcasting ad opportunities.

Panelists will include:

  • Steve Gillmor of “The Gillmor Gang" podcast, a technology-focused program whose advertisers include Earthlink and AOL.
  • Tim Bourquin of “EnduranceRadio.com” whose advertisers include Gatorade and Fleet Feet Sports.
  • Katie Kempner, director of communications at Crispin Porter + Bogusky and host of “The Hook,” a podcast about the intersection of advertising and PR.
  • Kelly Wagman, customer relationship marketing manager at Juniper Networks, who spearheads “Sound Off,” a podcast designed to galvanize the company's customer base through an open dialogue between their employees and customers.

“Podcasting is an extremely exciting channel because it allows advertisers to leverage the power of audio and video without buying a single minute of satellite time, online media or television,” said Susan Bratton, ad:tech Chair.

Hello,
I spent a good part of the past three days attending the Podcasting Expo that took place at www.co-opworld.com on the Internet.

Since you featured it on your site today, I thought you might like to hear what I discovered. Becoming a Podcaster is a new concept for me. I had no idea how to do it. I've come away from this experience fully convinced that podcasting is definitely in my immediate future.

One of the exciting things for me was listening to Dr. Linda King and some of her colleagues from Fordham University, where they have moved way ahead of the pack with their use of podcasts in the areas of Life Long Learning, podcasting for teachers - at the grade school level and podcadting for porfessors at the higher education level.

This is a whole other world of podcasting and they have the most amazing archives and tutorials that anyone can access freely.

The International Podcasting Expo plans to become a fixture and there are other specialized podcasting events planned for the near future. I hope you will keep an eye on these developments and let us know how they improve as time goes on.

This is certainly an exciting evolution in the world of technology - and so interesting for someone who started out life with an old Royal typewrite to see how life and lifestyles are changing as technology evolves faster and faster.

I discovered your existence during this expo too and look forward to seeing what you report in this exciting medium during the coming months.

Regards,
Catherine.
