MediaTuner is a web-based application, requiring no program downloads or installation. All that is required to use the application is the latest Macromedia Flash Player, which is installed in 96% of all browsers. MediaTuner runs on either a PC or Mac and all browsers. Shrook v2.2 supports all versions of RSS, and the latest draft of Atom. Shrook purports to be "the only major Mac newsreader with fully automated podcast support." When Shrook encounters a podcast, it is downloaded and added to iTunes. When the user's iPod is connected, iTunes copies the audio, and Shrook downloads the text content of all the feeds to read on the iPod screen, complete with links to access the audio. The Windows-based tool is free, and available for download at the Podifier website. Podifier is a Flash-based application that automates the creation of an RSS feed, the association of one or more MP3 files, and FTPing the files to a server.
