Amazon has quietly dropped the price of its Kindle book reader, the device it recently said was selling better than it expected.

Citi analyst Mark Mahaney says the Amazon Kindle could be an iPod-like hit within two years, contributing 3% (750 millsion) to Amazon’s revenue.
Here are Mahaney’s reasons:

Amazon today launched a public beta of Amazon MP3, a new digital music download store that features DRM-free MP3s. The new store promises music downloads that work with any portable media player, at prices cheaper than iTunes.

Amazon.com today announced it will launch a digital music store later this year offering millions of songs in the DRM-free MP3 format from more than 12,000 record labels, including EMI.
