Appcasting = Distributing Applications with Podcasts

Loop EditorAudio Engineering is distributing a free audio loop editing program, Loop Editor, using a variation on podcasting, appcasting.Loop Editor is a simple (and free) audio loop editor application for OS X. Loop Editor supports all audio file formats that support loop markers.

The idea behind appcasting is that RSS newsfeeds with enclosures are used to let you subscribe to an application, so that you’ll know when the latest version of the program is available. You can even have it automatically downloaded, like you would a podcast.

About AppcastingAppcasting is intended to make it easy for users to keep up to date with software releases. Many podcast clients can download a variety of content enclosures, including applications.
