Stickam Lands Live Stream of Adam Carolla Podcast

When his weekday show was suddenly cancelled in a sweeping format change, nationally syndicated radio host Adam Carolla launched a free daily podcast -  a podcast with a quarter million listens within 24 hours of the first episode posting.

Wednesday, live streaming video service Stickam announced that it “will be the exclusive streamer for Adam Carolla’s live podcast [starting] Wednesday, March 25, 2009 ”

The show will stream at 5:00pm PT (8 pm Eastern) at Viewers can watch Carolla and his guests as they record the podcast (from multiple locations)Viewers also have the capability to interact with them via Stickam’s “real-time interactive chat feature.”

    Well, I may be jealous of the sheer numbers (but I was always going to be really, really niche since I’m all about MSers and indie music,) however, I welcome Mr. Carolla and his podcast.

    Maybe its the imposition of mainstream onto podcasting, rather then a breakthrough from podcasting to the mainstream, but its all for the good.

    Its not as if we were competing for bandwidth, after all…

    We’re competing for mind share; being unashamed, attention-grabbing ‘Look at me, Ma” kids in a quasi-infinite playground.

    Sure, its tough out here; you have to be more appealing than “the other guy©®™” and fight to retain people’s attention; to stay relevant; to be useful; to be entertaining; to be understood…

    But at least MSers now stand a chance to establish their own channel for their own interests.

    Podcasting puts an end to the tyranny and vagary of the mass market.
